JPL Competition Project
Current Progress
After the failure of the gas compression idea, our group started to lean towards a projectile motion based build. Our first initial idea was to use a basic catapult design, however, after brainstorming our group opted for a trebuchet design instead. Due to the deadline quickly approaching, we are fleshing out details and ideas quickly so we can troubleshoot and prepare. Within the next few weeks our group needs to finish creating a working prototype of the trebuchet, as well as work out the calculations for optimal efficiency and timing.

Current Progress 2 (11/4/19)
The trebuchet design has been finalized, as the blueprint is created, and we have started building the frame of the trebuchet. I contributed to the recent developments by creating the blueprint for the trebuchet, providing accurate measurements and angles. After we have finished building the trebuchet, we will start to test the speed and optimal angle for the trebuchet, making sure that the initial speed of the ping pong ball will travel through the entire pipe.

Reflection
In the end, our project failed due to our lack of understanding of the rules. However, we have learned from our mistakes and have taking account that the brainstorming and researching phases should take significantly less time compared to testing and prototyping. If we take this into account in the CAPSTONE project, success is highly probable.
